A welding machine is required for any job that requires any work with metal. The heat produced from the welder is capable of transforming the metal into various shapes as needed or to join them. This article will take a look at some types of welders.

Welders

What are some types of welders?

    • Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW): It follows the process that functions manually by the stick welders. This welding machine uses electric current for the formation of electric arc to heat up the machine to join the metals or make the metal in different shapes. It is used mostly for welding iron and steel.
    • GMAW/MIG (Gas metal Arc welding): This welding machine is also named as MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and it uses the shielding gas with the wire electrodes in the welding machine to heat up the MIG to weld the metal to different shapes or join them together. It requires a constant power source and it is one of the most common welding machines that are used.
    • Flux cored Arc welding (FCAW): This welder is used as an alternative to the shield welding. This welding machine is used in construction works as it is very fast and efficient and it is portable to carry easily.
    • Gas Tungsten Arc Gas Welding (GTAW/TIG): This type of welder is also known as tungsten inert gas welder (TIG welder). Tig welders are used for the welding of stainless steel thick sections or of those materials that are non ferrous materials. The process involving this welder is quite time consuming in nature. This welding machine uses tungsten electrode in order to weld.
